James William White

 James (Jim) William White, age 94, died on November 19, 2021. He was born in Pennsylvania on June 14, 1927, the son of the late James White and Margaret Bowers White.

Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Katherine Ann Dunavant White; his daughters, Carmen Quinn (David) of Oxford, NC, Linda McOsker of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Michael Neese and Michelle Neese .

Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He was full of patience, kindness and humility.  He proudly served in WWII (1945-1947) and was a valued Freemason member in Westhampton Lodge No. 302 and Joppa Lodge No. 40.  Leadership roles in Joppa Lodge included Worshipful Master (2003, 2005, and 2006) and Secretary of the Lodge (2010 – 2015).  Teaching, though, seemed to be his passion.  He taught the Mason rituals for the Joppa Lodge from 2006-2016.  At the same time, he also taught classes for all Mason Lodges in the Richmond area.  After his formal teaching at the lodge ended, he continued tutoring new members up until 2018.

He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.  A funeral service will be held on December 4, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Christ United Methodist Church, 6818 W. Grace Street, Richmond, VA, 23226 and will be officiated by Rev. Nancy Robinson.  Private burial at Westhampton Memorial Park. Jim was a faithful member of Christ UMC for over twenty years, serving in many leadership positions and inspiring deeper life in Christ through ‘get it done’ style filled with humor, compassion, and quiet practicality.
