Jane Denning Hardee, age 86, of Oxford died March 8, 2017 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Mrs. Hardee was born March 5, 1931 in Johnston Co. to the late D. Hunter and Lena Creech Denning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Scott Hardee; son, David Scott Hardee; brothers, Willis C. "Billy" Denning and Deleon Denning; and a sister, Annie Laurie Lewis. Mrs. Hardee was a member of Oxford Baptist Church. Surviving include her daughter, Lynne Hardee Denis of Oxford; son-in-law, Melvin J. Denis; brother, Joe Denning of Benson; a grandson who she cherished, Spencer Lee Noble and his wife Courtney Adams Noble; and a great grandchild is on the way. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 PM at Oxford Baptist Church. Officiant's will be Rev. Christopher Aho and Dr. Dennis Herman. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens, Dunn, NC. The family will receive friends at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM on Saturday, March 11, and at other times at the home of Lynne, 101 East Thorndale Dr., Oxford, NC. Flowers are welcome; however, the family suggests memorials be sent to Oxford Baptist Church at PO Box 398, Oxford, NC 27565. The Hardee family is under the care of Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford.
