Janet Mclean Poole

Janet McLean Lowery Poole, 93, of Granville County, NC, died peacefully on December 17, 2023, in Rocky Mount, NC surrounded by family. She was born on September 6, 1930, in Buffalo Junction, VA, daughter of the late Henry Thomas Lowery and Lillian Dexter Talley Lowery.

Surviving Janet are her beloved children, Randy (Janet) Poole, Linwood (Kathy) Poole, David (Peggy) Poole, Michaël (Marjorie) Poole, Cathy Poole, and Amy (Fielding) Daniel; her sister, Annette Beaver of Richmond Va and her nephew, Barry Canning of Texas. She also leaves behind 11 beloved grandchildren and 6 precious great grandchildren and many extended family and friends and caregivers too numerous to name. Preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Pelham Merritt Poole of Person County, NC.

Mama," Mac" as she was called by family and friends and her loving caregivers was and will always remain in our memories, a gifted and devoted woman.

Devotion," loyalty and love and care for someone or something”, that is as close of a definition of mama as can be mustered. If you lived in her presence then you received that devotion, even to discipline and teach you how to live to the fullest potential that God had planned for you. Her whole existence was to excel, to work for Gods glory and the good He had planned for her, to flesh out her faith in the work of her hands, the determination of her mind and body, even in these last days to keep on keeping on.

She taught through example, her weaknesses, her struggles were the same as ours, even so, her devotion to God, to her trust in Him and her love for us all drove her on to never quit, to never accept less of herself or others, there was no "I can't" in mama's vocabulary and that has made all the difference.

Devotion and faith, " a long journey of obedience in the same direction” may we draw strength from that example she gave us.

Graveside services will be held at on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Jessie W. (Sam) Mooney officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Olive Branch Baptist Church Missions Fund.
