Jean Aude Mcghee

Jean Aude McGhee, age 88, died peacefully Saturday, May 7, 2011 at her residence. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Born July 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James Aude and Laura Jarvis Aude. She proudly served in the U. S. Women's Marine Corps during WW II. Jean was a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Durham. Jean is survived by her son, Walter Jackson "Jack" McGhee III of Durham; daughters, Susan E. McGhee of Chapel Hill; Anita M. Vick and husband, Dennis of Mebane; grandchildren, Angela Royal and husband, Mel; Christopher McGhee and wife, Christianeelizabeth Byrd and husband, Greg; Matthew Covington and wife, Missy; Kathleen McGhee; and Jaclyn McGhee; great grandchildren, Sprout Royal, Bella Royal, Gracie McGhee, Mac McGhee, Gage Byrd, Ryder Byrd, aneeli McGhee. She is also survived by her sisters, Ida Barnes of Oregon; Laura Ogden of Franklin, NC; Lorraine Stroh of Michigan; brothers, Bernie Aude and Jim Aude both of Michigan. She was preceded ineeath by her husband of 64 years, Walter Jackson McGhee, Jr. who died on January 5, 2011. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 12:00 PM Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Dan McLellan, OFM, presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the students of Cardinal Gibbons High School Pallbearer Society. Friends may visit Wednesday morning from 11:00- 12:00 at the church before Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Duke Hospice and Home Care 4321 Medical Park Dr. # 101, Durham, NC 27704; or a charity of one's choice.
