Jerrell (Jerry) Cates Colvard

Jerrell (Jerry) Cates Colvard, age 89, went home to her Lord Jesus Christ on August 7, 2018 after a prolonged illness.?? She was preceded ineeath by her loving husband of 58 years, "J" Colvard, in 2010. She graduated from Durham High School in 1947 and was a member of Trinity Bible Class at First Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons David (Lynn) Colvard and Douglas (Amy) Colvard and daughter Nancy C Frantel; four grandsons, two granddaughters, and a great-grandson due in October. The family is very grateful for the devoted care she received from Debbie Morris for the past 8 years, including her final years at Hillcrest Convalescent Center. A funeral service for Jerry will be held on August 11, 2018 at 2pm in the Hall-Wynne Chapel in Durham, NC. Chaplain Joe McGugan will be officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawneemorial Park in Durham. The family will greet friends on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham and 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 in the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club in Durham, The North Carolina Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill, or Baptist Children???s Homes of North Carolina in Thomasville.
