Mr. John Albert Clifford, age 81, died peacefully in his home on July 11, 2022. He was the son of the late Mahlon James Clifford, Sr., and Louise Eastwood Clifford born on August 1, 1940. John was born in Vance County and graduated from Dabney School in 1958. He worked for Standard Motor Parts, Carolina Power and Light and Carolina Telephone Company. He believed strongly in his family, community, and church. He served as much as he could in various positions.
John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Smith Clifford; his daughter, Susan Clifford Smith (Bob) of Clarksville, VA; his son, Todd Spencer Clifford, Sr (Kim) of Oxford, NC; four grandchildren, Katherine Kaleel (Chris), Robert Smith (Penny), Kristen Clifford and Todd Spencer Clifford, Jr. John is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, Ayden, Hunter, Nathan, Genevieve, and Rylee; and his sister, Mary Francis Clifford Abbott. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends too numerous to name.
John was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Genevieve Clifford; his brother and his wife, Mahlon Clifford, Jr (Marian); his sister and her husband, Ann Clifford Langston (Carlton) and his brother-in-law, James Abbott.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Marrows Chapel United Methodist Church. The family will receive guests from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall on Thursday.
The family requests that all attendees wear appropriate face coverings and adhere to the safe practice of social distancing.
