John Hillman Brummitt, 94, of Oxford, NC, passed away at his home surrounded by his friends and family on April 19, 2015 just as he had requested. Mr. Brummitt was a loving husband and devoted father who loved to fish, play golf, spend time on the lake and relax at the beach. Mr. Brummitt also was honeed with the Purple Heart during his tour of France while serving his country in World War II. Mr. Brummitt is preceded ineeath by his loving wife of 62 years, Christine Saunders Brummitt; two brothers, Ernest Brummitt and Raymond Brummitt; and a sister, Dena Longmire. Mr. Brummitt is survived by his daughter Pam Brummitt Stephenson and her husband Rickey of Oxford; a sister, Hallie B. Harris of Cary, NC; three grandchildren, Cameron, Preston, and Candace Stephenson. Visiting hours will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford. The funeral service will be held at 11am oneednesday in the Memorial Chapel of Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home. Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home is serving Brummitt family.
