John Hutchman Duval, Sr.

Dr. John Hutchman DuVal, Sr. passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016. John, originally from St. Louis, MO, lived with his family in Durham, NC since 1973. John was born ineelleville, IL oneebruary 5, 1950 to the late Frank Hutchman DuVal and his wife Maryann. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who was a true friend to anyone that was fortunee enough to meet him. He was proud of his entire family, but he was especially proud of his grandchildren. John was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and an avid North Carolina basketball enthusiast. Dr. DuVal worked as a premier chiropractor in Chapel Hill for over twenty three years. After serving the Chapel Hill community for so long as a leading source for chiropractic services, Dr. DuVal decided to change vocations and operated as a carpenter for about six years before becoming the Facilities Specialist for Rho Inc. in Chapel Hill. John had a wonderful sense of humor. He told people that Jesus worked as a carpenter and theneecame a healer, whereas he was a healer that eventually became a carpenter! Johneetired in 2015. Surviving John are his wife, Judith; one son, John and his partner Emily, two grandchildren, Genevieve and Augustus; and three sisters, Carrie, Sara and her husband Dana and Anne and her husband Kevin.
