John Thomas Toohil

DURHAM – John Thomas Toohil, age 83, died on May 6, 2022. He was born on February 28, 1939, to James Thomas Toohil and Harriet White Toohil.
John graduated from Catholic University of America. He taught music in Lindenhurst, Long Island, NY until 1994. John was pianist and choir director at St. Matthew until 2016.
John is survived by his sisters, Mary Toohil, Bertha DeVita, and Margie Webb; his brothers, James, and Peter Toohil.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Noon, May 11, 2022, from St. Matthew Catholic Church. Fr. Robert Staley will preside. The family will greet friends 11:00 – 12:00 PM Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial my be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1001 Mason Road, Durham, NC 27712.
