John Vestal Hendrick, age 63, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 25, 2022. He was the son of George
McClellan “Mac” Hendrick and Sylvia Surratt Hendrick. John was born in Homestead, Florida on November 21, 1959.
John lived a full life, with a deep love for his family, horses, horse family, and friends. He was a valued employee at Granville Hosiery for about 20 years. He was a cowboy at heart. You could look at his hands and you could automatically tell he was a hardworking man. He had a calming soul that could be felt when you were around him. Through hard work, determination, and dedication, he became a highly respected Farrier. He is well-known in the horse community. He worked with the vets, so he was not only knowledgeable in putting shoes on but also in medical issues. John was so patient, loving, and devoted to all his family and friends. He would give the shirt off his back. He was an amazing Dad, Papa John, Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, and Family member. He was a great cook, he could clean and organize with ease, and loved working outside, mowing, and taking care of the family farm, his home, and his animals.
John is survived by his mother, Sylvia Surratt Hendrick; his daughter, Jessica Elaine Hendrick Winston
(Alexander) and his brother, Wesley McClellan Hendrick (Denise), all of Oxford, NC, and 2 grandchildren, Seth
Alexander Winston, and Logan Douglas Winston. He will be missed greatly by his nephews, Daniel and Noah Hendrick; his niece, Lydia Hendrick and many other extended family too numerous to name.
