Johnee Fontaine Jones

OXFORD: J. Fontaine Jones, age 92 died at his home on May 18. 2009. Mr. Jones was born in Granville County on July 10, 1916 and was the son of the late Lewis Richard and Gracie Weary Jones. He was a retired tobacco farmer and worked in the past at John Umstead Hospital and N.C. Dept. of Transportation Bridge Division. He was also a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, Sunday School teacher and usher. Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Creek Baptist Church, Thursday, May 21, at 2:00 P.M. by the Rev. Johnny Richards and Rev. Lemar Wheeler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by sister-in-law Christine Jones, neerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded ineeath by his brothers, Lewis Garland, Ollie David, Leonard Haley, Drewrey T. and sister Esther Greenway. He was cared for by his niece and great niece Ann and Joy Fiscus and special thanks to the Rosa Hester Nursing Staff for their expression of kineess and tender loving care for the past 3 years. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 20, at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Granville County Senior Services Stovall Meals on Wheels, 120 Orange Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
