Johneebster Carlile

DURHAM - Johneebster Carlile died oneeptember 8, 2005 in Durham, North Carolina where he had lived for the past 8 years. A warm, loving, caring, funny, optimistic, strong and genee man, he lived 89 years enriched by family and friends and gracing their lives with his love. Born April 21, 1916 in Columbus, Ohio to William Arthur and Ruth Huntington Carlile, the second of three sons, he graduated from Columbus Academy where he served as President of the Student Body. He graduated from Princeton Uneersity in 1938 and served in World War II as a 1st Lieutenant with the quartermaster corps in Washington, DC. In 1940 he married his beloved Jane Cecelia Wood, also of Columbus, and raised a family of four children who considered themselves lucky to have such great parents. The family lived in Dayton, OH, Mt. Vernon, OH, West Hartford, CT, and Winnetka, IL and spent summers at their wonderful cottage on Walloon Lake, MI. In his later years he and Jane lived in Ft. Wayne, IN and Winston-Salem, NC. A successful businessman aneeneepreneur, he retired to North Carolina. His wife of 57 years predeceased him in 1997, as did son John, Jr in 1998 and daughter Celia Carlile Monton of Cincinnati in May, 2005. He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Carlile Craver of Durham, NC and Virginia Carlile Quaal of Scottsdale, AZ and their husbands, Tony Craver and Graham Quaal; his son-in law James Monton of Cincinnati; 7 grandchildren: Carolyn Craver Evans and husband Rick of Elon, NC; Virginia Craver Nagy and husband Stephen of Winston-Salem, NC; Amy Craver Mofield and husband Mark of Gibsonville, NC; Bradley John Monton of Lexingon, KY; Lynne Monton Haase and husband Gregg of Cincinnati, OH; Jeffrey W. Craver and wife Kirsten of Columbia, MO and Deborah Quaal Akers and husband Bryan of Phoenix, AZ; and 10 great-grandchildren. A service of celebration will be held in his honor and to the glory of God at First Baptist Church Elon, 618 Haggard Ave, Elon, NC 27244 on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jane and John Carlile Memorial Fund at Clemmons Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box 475 Clemmons, NC 27012, to the Kiev Mission Trip at First Baptist Elon or to the American Cancer Society.
