Joseph Everett Ragan, 84, resident of 1307 Leon Street, died Monday morning at the VA Hospital. A native of Durham, he was the son of the late Ruffin and Narvia O'Mary Ragan. For many years Mr. Ragan was employed with Uneed Van Lines and the last few years worked at the Food Lion in Oak Grove. Mr. Raganeerved in the U.S. Army during WII. He attended Immanuel Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Rebecca Johnson Ragan; son, Donald Ragan and wife, Jymie; daughter, JoAnn Pittman, all of Durham; grandchildren, Amy Ragan, Allison Ragan and Joseph Pittman; great-grandchildren, Meganeeagher and Nathaniel Meagher. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Wednesday at Immanuel Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Turnbough officiating, Burial will follow in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Services.
