Joseph (Joe) William Parrott

June 4, 1942 — March 25, 2022

Oxford

Joseph “Joe” William Parrott, age 79, died on March 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Charlie Wrenn Parrott, Sr. and Charlotty Lurline Jones.  Joe was born in Granville County on June 4, 1942.

Joe was a loving father.  He may not play many games with you or go out and throw ball with you, but you always knew he was proud of our accomplishments.

Joe was a loving husband.  All was not always in harmony, but there was a kiss every night.

Joe was a loving brother.  He cared deeply for his brothers and sisters and all of the in-laws, nieces, and nephews that were a part of the Parrott family.

Joe loved Enon Church and the family there.  And he always had a bit of his heart with Mount Zion Baptist Church… the “homeplace” church.

Some people thought Joe was a “Jew”.  We shouldn’t use such a stereotype these days, but he never liked the opening price and always tried to drive the cost down… repeatedly.  If you did business with him, you know what we mean.

Now, Joe is at rest.  No Parkinson’s.  No more cardiac pain.  He’s at home.

Joe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Ellis Parrott; his two sons, William Gregory Parrott and wife, Roberta Essom Parrott of Durham, NC and Joseph Kent Parrott and wife, Leslie Currin Parrott of Oxford. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Thomas Parrott, Jackson Parrott, Sarah Parrott, Margaret Parrott, Cole Parrott and Emily Parrott; two sisters, Betty Jean Burnette of Oxford, NC and Patricia Graham and her husband, James of Oxford, NC; sisters-in-law, Rachel Parrott of Roxboro, NC and Ann Parrott and Ernestine Parrott, both of Oxford.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to name but he loved them all.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his sister’s, Lurline Peed and Janie Dean; his brother’s, Charles Parrott, Jones Parrott, Elbert Parrott, Jack Parrott, Noblin Parrott, and Carl Parrott.

A visitation will be held for family and friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 pm on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Enon Baptist Church with a service to follow at 2:00 pm and officiated by Reverend Jim Shelley and Reverend Steve Brown.  Burial to follow in Enon Cemetery.
