Joseph Martin Crews

Joseph Martin “Marty” Crews left his life on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the age of 61. He was born and raised in Granville County, the youngest son of the late Edgar Reid “Buddy” and Barbara Breedlove Crews.

Marty graduated from South Granville High School, class of 1978, then earned an Associates Degree from Stanley Technical College, Albemarle, in 1980. He worked for the next decades at Duke and then UNC Health Systems as a Biomedical Technician. Retiring early due to chronic health issues, Marty spent his later years attended by numerous pets on a family farm.

Marty is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anne Gay Crews; his son, Joseph Matthew (fiancée, Danielle) and a very special cat, Marsal.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Nelson Reid “Neil” Crews.

Marty was cared for at the end of his life by the compassionate professionals of the Hock Family Hospice Pavilion. Due to concerns around COVID, the family will hold a memorial at a later date at Bullocks United Methodist Church, Creedmoor, NC.
