Joseph Swanson Braswell

DURHAM Joseph Swanson Braswell, 81, died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Hock Family Pavilion. Swanson was born in Wake County to the late Clarence Odell and Levie Murdoch Braswell. Swanson was employed by IBM working in maneement of Traffic and Shipping departments. Swansoneerved in the U. S Navy and was a 60 year member of Durham Masonic Lodge 352 A.F & A.M. He was also a longtime voluneer of the Durham Police Department. He was preceded ineeath by his wife Hannah Southerland Braswell and his brother Charles Clarence Braswell. Swanson is survived by daughter, Iris Braswell Moore of Lumberton, NC; son, Joseph Clarence Braswell of Durham; grandchildren, Christopher Braswell, Alexander Braswell, Jake Moore, and Hannah Moore. A private burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit from 3:00 5:00 pm Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Braswell home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Swanson's honor may be made to Duke Homecare and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr. # 101, Durham, NC 27704.
