OXFORD: Josephine Barnes Currin, age 95, died neember 6, 2012 at Granville House in Oxford. She was the daughter of the late George and Mamie Hobgood Barnes and the wife of the late Edward Madison Currin. Ms. Currin was the oldest member of Enon Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. She was also well known for her cooking. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, neember 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Enon Baptist Church by Rev. James C. Shelley, Jr. and Rev. Steve Brown. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial in the fellowship hall of the church and at other time at the home of Madison and Linda Currin, 2614 Enon Rd., Oxford. Surviving are sons Bruce B. Currineecky, E. Madison Currin Linda both of Oxford; daughters, Cynthia C. Capps Jerry, and Gloria C. Greenway Larry both of Henderson; brothers, Lee R.Shorty BarnesAlyese, of Durham, Waverly Barnes Ann of Oxford; a sister, Alexine Hoyle of Henderson; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and her care givers Lucille Peace and Sylvia Allen. She was preceded ineeath by a daughter, Rosalie Barnes, a brother, Robert Thomas Barnes and a grandson, Brad Greenway. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church, c/o Buck Adcock, 2115 Tommie Daniel Road, Oxford, NC 27565.
