Joyce Ellis Ball, 83, of 308 Coleman St, Oxford, NC passed away on Monday, June 1st, 2015. She was a native of Granville County and the daughter of the late Melvin Ellis, Sr. and Hallie Moss Ellis. She was a long time member of Geneva Presbyterian Church, serving as elder, choir member, and women of the church. The funeral will be conducted at Geneva Presbyterian Church on Thursday at 11 am with the burial following in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Geneva Presbyterian Church cemetery fund c/o Eddie Shaw, 1612 Lewis Jones Road, Oxford, NC 27565. She is survived by a daughter; Ann Squires and her husband Billy, a son; Vernon ???Butch??? Ball and his wife Vickie, four grandchildren, Steven Ball and his wife Corrie, Susan Ball Phelps and her husband Tim, Meredith Squires, and Tappey Squires; two great grandchildren, Zackary Ball and Carter Lee Ball; a brother, Melvin ???Tom??? Ellis; and special friend, William Daniel. She is preceded ineeath by her husband, Vernon Farrar Ball, Sr.; a sister, Edna Gill and two brothers, Nelson Ellis and Bill Ellis. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm oneednesday, June 03, 2015 at Gentry neell and Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford, NC. Mrs. Balls family would like to thank Duke Hospice for their kind care during her illness, as well as her caregiver, Dorothy Garrett and friend, Lula Thorpe.
