Born on August 4, 1922 in Raleigh, Juanita was the daughter of the late William Anderson Allen and Juanita Williams Allen. She grew up in Hillsborough and moved to Durham when she married the love of her life, Thomas A. Jones. They were happily married for 65 years. She was a devout member of Carr United Methodist Church and treasured the life-long friends she made there. They formed the XYZ group that continued to meet long after Carr closed. After leaving Carr, Juanita joined Bethany United Methodist Church where she quickly became involved in many church activities, including United Methodist Women; working in the kitchen and participating in Sunday School.
In addition to her love for church, Juanita looked back fondly on the 17 years she spent as a jewelry manager at Brendle’s. She loved the beach, cooking, tending to flowers and reading. What brought her the most joy, however, was being a “Muv” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a daughter, Diane Moore and husband Watt; three grandchildren Jay Anderson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeff Anderson and wife Tonya of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Stephanie Moore of Raleigh, NC; four great grandchildren Austin and Colin Anderson of Sugar Hill, GA, and Peyton and Brooke Anderson of Myrtle Beach, SC.
In addition to her late parents, Juanita was preceeded in death by her loving husband Thomas A. Jones, a daughter Betsy and son-in-law Jerry Anderson. She also was preceeded in death by four sisters and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church.
