Judy May Hite Murray, a loving soul known for her unwavering kindness and compassion, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Oxford, North Carolina. Born on May 1, 1952, in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, Judy’s life was a testament to the beauty she always found in the world around her.
A high school graduate, Judy's industrious spirit led her to work in various roles throughout her life. She began her career laboring in the tobacco fields of Virginia, eventually becoming a skilled sewing machine operator at Croscill. Her tenacity shone brightly during her time at Shoe Show, a role she cherished until her disability necessitated a shift in her life’s journey.
Judy was a person who embodied love, particularly for her family. Her honesty and straightforwardness were hallmarks of her character, offering others a lens to see the truth of situations—whether welcomed or not. She had an innate ability to care for those around her, nurturing both people and the natural world, as she found joy in nature and a deep affection for animals.
Judy is survived by her doting husband of 53 years, John W. Murray, and their beloved son, Andrew Wayne Murray. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings, Clyde Hite, Jr., Ann Hite, her sister-in-law, Dorothy Hite and extended family and friends too numerous to name, who will forever keep her spirit alive in their hearts.
Judy now joins her parents, Clyde Hite and Evannah Buchanan Hite, along with her brothers, William and Thomas Ray Hite, all of whom preceded her in death. The family will carry forward her legacy, often recalling her vibrant personality and the love she so freely gave.
