Julia Blackley Strother

Mrs. Julia “Judy” Strother, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2023, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of the late Elmo Murray Blackley and Buelah Woodlief Blackley and began her full life in Granville County, NC on June 3, 1937.

Judy was a woman of strength and dignity. She believed in hard work, her faith and took diligent care of her family. She graduated from high school and married the love of her life, Frank Holmes Strother on July 3, 1955. Judy was an active participant with many boards. She was the Granville County representative serving on the Economic Development Commission, the Planning Board and the Granville Medical Hospital.

Judy is survived by her son, Bryant M. Strother (Karen); her daughter, Lynn Stother; and her grandchildren, Jason E. Strother (Amber) and Patrick Hales, Jr (Caleigh). She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Blackley (Cynthia) and many extended family and friends too numerous to name.

She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, Frank H. Strother.

A graveside funeral service will be held for Judy on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 11:00 am at Strother Family Cemetery off Preddy Road. Family and friends are invited to attend.
