b. April 13, 1933

DURHAM ??? June Visser passed away peacefully oneebruary 1st, 2020 in Durham, NC, after an extended period of declining health. She was 86. June was a lifelong resident of the Boston area until moving to Durham in 2018 to be closer to family. June was born April 13, 1933 in Boston, to Malcolm P. and Ronaldsa Nichols McLellan, the youngest of 3 children. She grew up in Dorchester and Mattapan, and graduated from St Gregory's High School in Lower Mills (Dorchester.) June then attended Boston State Teachers College, where she met the love of her life, Alexander "Sandy" Visser. June and Sandy were married two days after their graduation in 1954, and remained inseparable throughout 63 years of marriage, until Sandy's passing in August of 2017. June was a retired Boston Public Schools teacher, and an avid amateur photographer. She had enjoyed Girl Scouting ineer youth, and while her own three childreneere young, led her own Girl Scout troop for some time. She was greatly interested in curreneevents, politics, aneenvironmental issues. June and Sandy lived in Hyde Park for close to 60 years, aneespecially cherished their home of nearly 48 years on Braeburn Road. Above all else, June loved her family. She is deeply missed and forever loved by her children and their spouses: Rona and William Shriner of Maine; Roderick aneelizabeth Visser of North Carolina; Malcolm and Sharon Visser of Virginia; her eight special grandchildren, Ariel, Hayley and Austin Shriner; Lindsay, Graham and Cameron Visser; Kyle and Rachel Visser. June is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Wilson of Maryland and Mary McLellan of Massachusetts, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. June was predeceased by her parents and her two siblings, Malcolm McLellan Jr. and Dora McLellan Cox. A memorial service for June will be held in Massachusetts later this year. June will be laid to rest with her beloved Sandy at Evergreeneemetery in Stoughton. Always together, together always. The family would like to acknowledge and deeply thank all of the wonderful people who gave such kind and compassionee care to June ineer last years, and specifically: Amazing Grace Private Home Care ineeymouth, MA; Seasons at Southpoint in Durham, NC; Acorn Home Care Services in Carrboro, NC; Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, Burlington, NC; and her personal care physician, Mary Beth McGranaghan of Doctors Making House Calls in Durham, NC. We are also grateful to everyone who sent lovely nees and cards to June. They so brightened her days.
