FUQUAY-VARINA: Karen Margaret Baiarsky Marchant, 69, died Friday in Hock Pavilion, Durham. She was born July 31, 1943 in Washington, DC, to Abraham "Moe" Baiarsky and Josephine "Jo" Delaney Baiarsky. Karen lived in Arlington, VA until she married her husband of 47 years, Robert Dennis Marchant on April 17, 1965. Karen attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, VA. She was a sister of the Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity for Women, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. Karen worked as a teacher before becoming a dedicated and loving mother and housewife. She returned to work as a teaching assistant at Running Brook, Dasher Greene and Waverly Elementary Schools in Howard County, MD. After retiring, Karen and Denny moved to Buena Vista, VA. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the service sorority, XI Beta Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Karen is survived by her husband, Dennis; her son Scott Marchant and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Donna Fowler-Marchant of Fayetteville; her daughter, Kristine Marchant of Garner; and grandchildren, Sergei, Natasha and Campbell Marchant. She is also survived by several close cousins. The funeral liturgy will be offered 12:30 PM Monday from Trinity Episcopal Church, 1128 S. Main St, Fuquay-Varina, with the Rev. Roxane Gwyn presiding. Burial will follow in Wake Chapel Cemetery. Friends may visit in the church Monday from 12:00 until service time. A reception at Trinity Church will follow the burial. Donations in Karen's nee may be made to the Susan G.
