Kent A. Otto, 64, died Saturday at home following a year-long illness. He was borneebruary 4, 1944 in St. Louis. Kent was a graduate of Indiana Uneersity, where he majored in music. He received the Masters degree in music from Oklahoma Uneersity. Kent spent a 35 year career as music director at St. Philip's Episcopal Church. While music was his vocation the other two passions in is life were home improvement, including design and landscaping, and physical fitness. Kent will be remembered for his joyful, upbeat personality, his remarkable generosity and willineess to always accommodate others. Surviving are his children, Timothy Catherine Otto of Raleigh and Kelley Chris Broome of Titusville, FL; his grandchildren, Ashley, Amy and Ava Broome, and William and Aneew Otto; his sister, Gwynne Richards of Austin, TX; his former wife and good friend, Pamela Thompson, and his long-time friend, William White. A memorial Eucharist will be offered 2:00 PM Wednesday from St. Philip's Episcopal Church, with the Rev'd M. Jonah Kendall and the Rev'd Vicki Smith officiating.
