From her earliest days, Kimberley's insatiable curiosity shone brightly. As a child, she approached the world with wide eyes and an open heart, eager to uncover its secrets. Her passion for medicine led her to University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), where she earned her medical degree in 1998. It was during her time at UMDNJ that she met her soulmate, Edward Evans. Their love story culminated in a beautiful marriage in September 1999. From this union, Kimberley and Edward were blessed with two children, Chase and Lauren.


In 1998, Kimberley embarked on her career at Duke, swiftly becoming an integral part of the Duke community. Her journey began as an internal medicine resident and later as a fellow in Nephrology in 2001. Her commitment to excellence and her passion for her work led her to ascend the ranks within Duke. Her dedication to her craft, teaching, minority recruitment and retention as well as large contributions to information technology ultimately led to her reaching the prestigious position of professor of medicine on August 1, 2023. As a medical professional, Kimberley's dedication to patient care was unparalleled. She extended expert care, empathy, and compassion to patients, especially those from vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.


Kimberley possessed an extraordinary gift – the ability to anticipate the needs of others before they even recognized them themselves. Her intuition and compassion formed a guiding light for her family and friends, ensuring that they were cared for in ways both seen and felt. Her remarkable ability to offer comfort, guidance, and a helping hand created a sense of security and belonging that will forever be treasured.
