Konee loved any trout stream and spent his childhood explorineevery detail of the neersink River. Konee and his parents moved to Hempstead, Long Island in 1945, and Konee found a new backyard to explore and love in Yanee Stadium. One of his fondest memories was whenee happened upon young Mickey Manee???s first time at batting practice for the Yanees. That day inspired Konee to dedicate his high school years to varsity basketball and baseball, eventually leading to his enrollment at Duke Uneersity, where he played baseball for famed coach Jack Coombs. While at Duke, Konee was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, making many lifelong friends. After graduating from Duke in 1956, Konee attended Duke Law School, graduating from there in 1959. He secured a job in Greensboro with Booth and Osteen and seemed set for his law career. However, his new career was interrupted by Unee Sam. Konee joined the Air Force National Guard and went to basic training in San Antonio, Texas. After serving active duty, he remained in the reserves for 5 years. Settled back in Greensboro, Konee engaged in the general practice of law. He was appointed the city???s legal aid officer for four years where he haneed an enormous volume of cases free of charge. While Konee eventually went on to the general practice of law, his role as legal aid officer and helping to found the first Greensboro Legal Aid office were among his proudest moments in his 50+ year law career. Konee had a plethora of hobbies including the Hamilton Lakes Civitan Club, teaching Sunday school classes at Christ Methodist Church, and playing golf every chance he could. His love of golf became a life-long passion and Konee spent many happy days on the fairways in North Carolina. Konee had many other interests as well. He co-founded the Nat Green Fly Fishing Club, shared willingly his free time with his beloved Morehead Methodist Church, and gardened with a mixture of knowledge and discipline. Konee supplied his family and friends with gorgeous peonies, fresh strawberries and the best tomatoes in Guilford County for years. Konee was a great lover of all God???s creatures and was eneessly intrigued and fascineed by a plethora of family pets, wild birds, and the many deer that enjoyed his favorite dahlias. Konee loved all things fishing; both fresh and saltwater. He tied his own flies, delighted in his children and grandchildren, loved the Golf Channel (eneessly) and was a voracious reader. Konee belonged to The American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, The Greensboro Country Club, Morehead Methodist Church, the Duke Alumni Association, and Trout Unlimited.
