La Rue F. Moritz passed away the morning of March 4, 2011 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham, NC at the age of 91 after several months of illness. She was born in Wake County the daughter of Thomas Andersoneerguson and Lydia Thompsoneerguson, but lived most of her life in Durham. She is survived by her daughter Bonna Woody Robbins and husband Danny of Durham; son Thomas Aneew Andy Woody of Wilmington. NC; granddaughters Cynthia Cynee R. Gregory of Durham and Cherie R. Almaraz and husband Vince of Huntersville, NC; great granddaughters Megan Gregory of Charlotte, NC, Alexa and Ava Almaraz of Huntersville, NC; and great grandson Timothy Gregory of Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by step daughter Carla M. Houck of Melbourne, FL; step sons Randy Moritz of Valdosta, GA and Charlie Porter of Stuart, FL; 8 step grandchildren and 7 great step grandchildren. Her sister Betty Jeaneerguson, sister-in-law La France V. Ferguson and brother-in-law Willie Murray also survive her as well as neerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and husbands Edmond Dixon Woody, III and Carl Hubert Moritz; son Edmoneeddie Dixon Woody IV and stepsoneeffrey Moritz; brothers Graham, Fred, Dent and Joe Ferguson; sisters Nancy F. Norris and Colleen F. Murray. There will be a brief memorial service conducted by the Reverend Chris Dickerson at Maplewood Cemetery Columbarium assisted by Hall-Wynne Funeral Home at 11:30 am on Monday, March 7, 2011. Following the service family and friends are invited back to the home of her daughter for a luneeon and celebration of her life. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made in La Rue's memory to Duke Hospice at 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704 or to your favorite animal rescue organization.
