Raleigh, NC – Leah Windham Talton, 94, passed peacefully on May 24, 2024. She was born on August 25th, 1929 to James McDowell Windham and Louise Troublefield Windham in Sumter SC.
Preceding in passing was her loving husband of 65 years Alfred F. Talton, sisters Betty and Dorothy, brothers James, Paul, Bobby, Mack, Albert, and Alfred. Brother, Julius Windham is the last surviving sibling.
She leaves behind son Alfred F. Talton, Jr. and wife Dawn, grandchildren Fleming, Neil & Ben Talton, his wife Lacy and their daughters, Vivian and Martha.
Leah’s work ethic was strong with meticulous attention to detail. She worked for a church minister, two Bank Presidents, and the Raleigh Parks & Rec director during her career. She was a talented and trained soloist, singing at weddings, and other musical performances. Her best performance was as a loving and doting grandmother, she loved her grandsons unconditionally and they felt it. Leah’s giving and selfless heart will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Friday June 7th, 10:30 visitation and 11 am service in the Chapel at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, Oxford, NC. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
