Lee Cheney

Lee Cheney, 61, passed away peacefully at Duke Hospital on Tuesday October 8, 2013. Her husband and daughter were with her, along with many loving friends, who came throughout the day to support her family. Lee was born ineew Orleans, LA oneecember 11, 1951 and grew up in Atlanta, GA. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard Uneersity and her law degree from the Uneersity of Virginia. She practiced law almost 30 years, first at Hurt, Richardson in Atlanta and then at Young Moore, Womble Carlyle and Troutman Sanders, all in Raleigh, NC. She enjoyed traveling, spending time in nature and with family and friends, and her beloved dogs. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Daniel Mark, her daughter, Rebecca Mark, her mothers, Neva Jane Cheney and Alexandra Mark, her father Vernon Mark, her sister Sarah Cheney Logan, her nephew Terry Logan, her aunt Ramona Thompson, her brothers-in-law, David Mark, Jeffrey Mark and William Lippe, her sisters-in-law, Valerie Mark Lippe, Lucy Maddock and Katie Mark, many cousins, and by her dogs Bailey, Sonny, and Lilly. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held 3:00 P.M. on Saturday October 12, 2013 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. Visitation will follow.
