Lennie Thomas Cottrell, 92 years old of Lake Park, Florida passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 after a courageous battle against a long illness. He is the son of John Wesley Cottrell and Cora Leigh (Fuller) of Granville County, North Carolina. Born in Oxford, N.C., he has been a resident of Palm Beach County since 1956. Lennie retired as the Chief of the Riviera Beach Police Department and was the owner and operator of Cottrell Realty. He also served as the Town Manager (Interim) and was a City Commissioner of the Town of Lake Park. He was the past president of the Rotary Club with over 50 years of perfect attendance. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He had very strong religious faith and served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, school board member, and Trustee of their church for over 40 years. He is predeceased by his siblings Robert Cottrell, Mary Grissom Clifford, and Nellie Morgan. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Mildred, Daughters; Cynthia Blevens (Hudson), Lucy Dwyer (Ken) and Leigh Cottrell, grandchildren, Thomas, Megan and Madelyn. He is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Burial will take place at the Salem United Methodist Church in Oxford, N.C. on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 11:00am.
