Leonard Polk Johnson

Leonard Polk Johnson, 89, of Oxford, NC died Friday, November 16, 2018. He was born in Granville County on July 26, 1929 to his now predeceased parents, Wayne Carlton Johnson and Annie (Beasley) Johnson. Leonard enjoyed spending time outside and took on gardening as a favorite hobby. He was also a dedicated civil servant as he served proudly for almost 40 years with the US National Guard. Above all else, Leonard cared most for his sweet wife, children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. Leonard is survived by his wife, Beth J. Johnson; sons, Barry W. Johnson (Nola), and Dennis Johnson (Deborah); daughter, Lisa Lankford (Brad); and grandchildren, Mark Johnson, Michelle Johnson, Devin Johnson, Brian Johnson, Connor Lankford, Luke Lankford, and Christina Lankford. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018, at 11:00 am from the Gentry-Newell - Vaughan Funeral Chapel, 503 College St. Oxford, NC. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
