Lillian Smalley

DURHAM - Lillian Marie Baber Smalley, age 85, died peacefully ineer Durham home Wednesday evening July 4. Lillian was born in Richmond, VA to the late Leonard Keel and Marie Thompson Baber on April 24, 1927. Blessed with a lovely soprano voice, Lillian brought joy to others through music throughout her life. Her love of books carried her into a career at the public library in Columbia, SC, where she relished making friends of all ages. Lillian is survived by her devoted daughter, Barbara Marie Smalley of Durham and her son, Herrick Keel Smalley, also of Durham. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, David Herrick Smalley. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main St. in Durham. Burial will follow on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in Forest Lawneemetery in Richmond, VA. Friends may visit Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
