Lionel Bertrand Burnette

Mr. Lionel Bertrand Burnette, age 87, died on August 10, 2021. He was the son of the late Zack F. Burnette and Nettie A. Brumitt Burnette. Lionel was born in Granville County on October 30, 1933.

Lionel was a Mason for more than fifty years and a Shriner. He had a successful career as a banker and raised a family with his wife, Lucinda.

Lionel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucinda Pittard Burnette; his son, Michael P. Burnette (Tonya) and two grandsons, “Trey” L.B. Burnette, III and Curtis C. Burnette. He is also survived by a brother, Durward Burnette (Candace) and a sister, Daphne Linsinger and two special sisters-in-law, Lorena Burnette and Susan Burnette. He will be missed by loving friends and family.

Lionel was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Lionel “Chip” Burnette, Jr.; and his siblings, Zack Burnette, Jr.; Robert E. Burnette, Wesley Burnette and Thurman Burnette.

A private memorial service will be held for family on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Burial at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Granville County Animal Shelter or to a charity of your choice.
