DURHAM: Lisa Joyce Beach, 54, died Monday at Hospice Houk Pavilion following an extended illness. She was born May 16, 1955 in Tacoma Park, MD to the late Donald and Anne White Clifford. Lisa was a graduate of Madison Uneersity, where she majored in fine arts. She also received a Masters Degree in creative writing from Madison. A Durham resident since 1988, Lisa was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Lisa was creatively gifted and a talented artist. An accomplished poet, she was in the process of writing a neel at the time of her death. She loved gardening, flower arranging and making gift baskets. Lisa and her husband, Tom, traveled extensively, enjoying many cruises over the years. Surviving are her husband, Thomas Beach; her sisters, Patti Scull and Gail Peterson, both of Raleigh; and a brother Michael Clifford of Austin, TX. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 10:00 AM Friday from Immaculate Conception Church. Private cremation will follow the funeral.
