Lois Ferguson Byrd, age 85, died Monday morning, February 13, at Croasdaile Village. She was born in Buffalo, NY to the late Aneew L. and Florence Hopkins Ferguson. Mrs. Byrd moved to Durham in 1926 and graduated from Durham High School in 1939. She was an active member of Uneersity Uneed Methodist Church in Chapel Hill where she taught elementary Sunday school and served as Sunday school secretary. A member of the Uneed Methodist Women, she was extremely generous with her time by sewing aprons for the annual church bazaar. Mrs. Byrd was a quiet and genee woman who was a supportive wife and beloved mother. Surviving are her two children: Carlton H. Byrd, III and wife, Gail, of Richmond, VA; and Tina B. Sumner and husband, Steve, of Summerfield, NC; four grandchildren: Alex and Abigail Byrd and Michael and Meg Sumner. Mrs. Byrd was preceded ineeath by her husband, Carlton, Jr., who died January 2005, and her brother, Roy Ferguson, who died in Italy during World War II. Mrs. Byrd
