Mrs. Lois Thompson Hackney, 82, of Moncure, died Sunday morning, June 9, 2013 ineer home. Mrs. Hackney was the last surviving child of Charlie Thompson and Lexie Hill Thompson. She was born in Randolph County oneebruary 22, 1931. Mrs. Hackney was a loving mother that enjoyed cooking and being a caretaker, a trait that was exhibited by her working as a nanny for most of her life. She is survived by her daughters, Lois Murray and Becky Hulon, both of Moncure; her sons, Thomas Hackney of Blacksburg, VA and Garlon Hackney of Bynum; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hackney was preceded ineeath by her parents; sons, Gary Dean Hackney and Michael Owen Hackney; sisters, Bessie Burr and Ruth Dixon; and brothers, Colvin Thompson and Woodrow Thompson. The service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lois Thompson Hackney will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2013, at Hall Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro. Interment will follow in Bynum Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 7:00 9:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence.
