OXFORD: Ms. Lucy Celia Cottrell, age 65, died of cancer on June 29, 2009 at Granville Medical Center in Oxford, NC. Celia was born on January 2, 1944 to the late Sidney and Lucy Frazier Cottrell. As the only girl among three brothers, she held a special place ineer family as she grew up in rural Oxford. In 1987, Celia moved from home on Route 5, Oxford into the Oxford Group Home. For the next 22 years, she enjoyed, benefited from and contributed to the lovineenvironment of her "second family." She especially enjoyed her job at Community Workforce Solutions, Inc. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2009 in the chapel of Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College Street, Oxford by the Rev. John Yount of Stovall Uneed Methodist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Salem Uneed Church Cemetery. The family will receive visitors for one hour preceding the funeral service at the Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home. Celia is survived by her brother Dan of Greensboro, and her sisters-in-law Mildred and Ann of Greensboro and Lois of Oxford. In addition, she leaves behind a large aneextended family. Celia is predeceased by her brothers Stanley of Reidsville aneelijah of Oxford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Group Home, c/o of DD Residential Services, Inc., PO Box 88, Henderson, NC or to the charity of the donor's choice. Celia's family extends its special appreciation to Ms. Lynn Grissom and Ms. Anee Bullock, Celia's long-term caregivers. They brought much joy to Celia, and much comfort to her family.
