Lynda Anne Winston

Lynda Anne Lilly Winston was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC on June 7, 1943, to the late Henry Marcus Lilly and Mary Virginia Glenn Lilly. Lynda died on May 14, 2023, at Brantwood Nursing Home.

Lynda taught second grade in Stafford County, VA and Granville County, NC and she retired in 2006. Lynda was the business manager for Oxford High School 1961 Annual. In 1961, she received the Citizenship Award from Oxford A.V.W. In 1965, she married Robert Lee Winston, who was the love of her life, and they spent 63 years together. She attended Meredith College and graduated from Campbell College in 1965. She attended Grassy Creek Baptist Church and Oxford United Methodist Church. Lynda loved to travel with Robert, read books of all kinds, helping others, teaching and spending time with friends and family.

Lynda is survived by and shared her life with her husband of 58 years, Robert Lee Winston, her sister, Mary Glenn Lilly Ray (David) and her niece, Sarah Ashley Ray.

Lynda was a believer in the statement, “What cost the least and does the most is just a pleasant smile.”

THe family of Lynda Winston would like to invite you to a visitation to be held  on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at Grassy Creek Baptist Church and officiated by Reverend Cameron Currin Burial will follow the service in Grassy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
