Madge Johnston Lawing 91, former resident of Dupont Dr. in Durham died peacefully Friday October 31st following a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lewis Johnson and Beatrice Johnston. She was a 1935 graduate of Durham High School. She was a member of McMannen Uneed Methodist Church. "Nana" was a loving and devoted mother and Grandmother. She made many sacrifices ineer life. She will be remembered as one who put her family first. Her children and Grandchildreneere her life. She and her husband took to raise twin grandsons at age 10 months. Raising these boys brought her many years of happiness and kept her young at heart. She was preceded ineeath by her husband of 70 years, Norris C. Lawing who passed Sept 3, 2008. Her grandsoneeffrey S. Lawing passed April 18, 2008 and her brother, Bobby Johnson of Chicago. She is survived by her son Michael N. Lawing of Durham, daughter Sandra Lawing of St. Augustine Fl. Six Grandchildren, Frederick Divallerino, Frank Divallerino, Beth Lawing Bradford, Michael Lawing Jr, Melody Cash, Jed Cash. Four Great Grandchildren, Frank Norris Divallerino, Daniel Bradford, Andy Bradford, Jeffrey Michael Lawing. Siblings, Justine Giles of Raleigh, Mary Rizzi of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Walter Johnston of Kingsville, Texas. A joint memorial service for Madge and Norris Lawing will be held Saturday, Nov 8th at 2.00 pm at McMannen Uneed Methodist Church 4102 Neal Road. Pastor Larry Bowden will preside.
