Madge Ray Williams Hubbard, 57, of Greensboro, passed away Thursday, January 14, after a graceful and courageous fight against breast cancer. Madge was born on May 28, 1952 in Rome, Georgia, to the late Hatcher and Jacqueline Williams of Oxford, NC. Madge spent her formative years in Charlottesville, Virginia. There she attended St. Anne's - Belfield School, while living at Blue Ridge School in St. George, Virginia, where her father was Headmaster. Madge earned a degree in English from Colorado College and studied abroad in England at Wroxton College of Fairleigh Dickinson Uneersity. Madge worked in international education in the UNC system for eighteeneears, spending the last four years as the Director of the Uneexchange Program at UNCG. She was previously Deputy Director of Study Abroad at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her career afforded her many travel opportunities across North and South America, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. Madge is survived by her devoted daughters, Maggie Caswell, of Greensboro, and Jordan Caswell Dolfi, and husband Jairus, of Asheville; brother Beverly Williams and wife Louise, of McLean, Virginia; brother John Williams and wife Rose, of Weaverville, NC; sister Margaret McFarland and husband Daniel, of Hampton, Virginia; and many friends, family, and colleagues around the world. Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 2:00 pm at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Oxford, NC. Reception will follow in the church Parish Hall.
