Maria Guadalupe Mendez Ruiz

October 4, 1971 — September 19, 2024

Oxford

Maria Guadalupe Mendez Ruiz, a beacon of joy and love, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on September 19, 2024. She was born on October 4, 1971, in Yuriria, Mexico, and her journey through life brought her to Oxford, North Carolina, where her spirit brightly illuminated the lives of all who knew her.

Maria was more than just a loving, devoted wife, and cherished daughter; she was a unique soul whose laughter and kindness touched everyone she encountered. Her joyful personality made even the simplest moments shine with a light that can only be described as magical. With a heart full of compassion, she was always there to lend a helping hand or share a comforting smile.

Married for 32 wonderful years to her beloved husband, Eduardo Chavez Franco, Maria exemplified the essence of love and partnership. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their adored children: Eduardo Chavez Mendez, Pablo Chavez Mendez, Jose Chavez Mendez, and Maria Chavez Mendez. Each of her children held a special place in her heart, and she found immeasurable joy in watching them grow and thrive.  Maria embraced her family and friends, such as Anna Rosa Chavez, Beatrize Chavez, Laura Chavez, Leslie Chavez, Moises de la Rosa, Luis Angel Chavez, and extended family too numerous to name.

Maria's legacy will forever be carried on through her precious grandchildren, Jayden Chavez Hernandez, Nicolas Chavez Hernandez, and Isabella de La Rosa Chavez. To them, she was not just a grandmother but an indispensable source of love and guidance. Her gentle nurturing and infectious laughter created a lasting bond that they will cherish for years to come.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Maria will remember her as a woman of strength, faith, and unwavering kindness. Her unique spirit and caring nature were a testament to her character, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of family and friends alike. She demonstrated what it means to love endlessly, to laugh heartily, and to be resolute in the face of life's challenges.

Services to honor the life of Maria will take place at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Butner, North Carolina. The visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service officiated by Father Leon at 3:30 PM on September 22, 2024. A burial will follow the service at South Granville Memorial Park, on Old 75, Stem, NC.

As we gather to celebrate Maria’s remarkable life, we hold close the memories of her smiles, her love, and the extraordinary joy she brought into our world. Though she may have departed from this earthly realm, her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those she loved and cared for so deeply.

The family is humbly being cared for by Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
