Marie Green Turner

Durham-Marie Greene Turner, 91, of Durham, NC, died on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham. She was borneebruary 18, 1926 to the late Minee and Augustus Green in Oxford, NC. Marie was a housewife, mother, babysitter, and a seamstress, until all her childreneere grown. She was a seamstress at Virginia Crabtree???s women???s clothing store for about 2 years. After that, she went to Duke Hospital where she retired as a receptionist in the Surgical Waiting Room. Many people called her the ???Sergeant???. Duke sent her to Durham Community College for computer courses where it helped her excel ineer career. This was an accomplishment that Marie was very proud of herself for. Not only was she proud of herself, but her childreneere extremely happy for her success. She attended the Tabernacle of Life Church for over 40 years, and she served as the secretary and treasurer since 1958. She loved helping people ineeed and was an amazing Christian lady that lived to share her belief in the Lord Jesus. She was beyond faithful to the church and her family throughout her life. Marie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Turner-Lutterloh, of Durham; her sons Marcus Turner, of Raleigh, and Roby Alan Turner, of Mebane; sister, Dorothy ???Dot??? Norwood; grandchildren, Rebecca Dawn, Amy Beth, Amanda Jeanette, David Michael, Daniel Marcus, Dylan Morris, Brittany Michelle, Abigail Marie, Jeremy Alan, Christian Augustus; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Ana, Alyssa, Isaac, Amy Grace, Ezra, Elijah, Jonah, Liam, Landon, Leann, and a baby Griffiths on the way. In addition to her parents, she was preceded ineeath by her husband, Jasper Morris Turner, daughter, Naomi Jean Turner Wright, son, Tony Morris Turner, grandchild, JoAnna Suzanne Wright, great-grandchild Isaiah Samuel Batten, Brothers, Wilford Green, Graham Green, Sisters, Irene Norwood, AnneeGrand, Alice Green, and Betty Woodlief. The Turner family will receive friends at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm oneednesday, August 2, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 3, at the Tabernacle of Life located at 2400 Sovereign St. Durham, NC 27705. Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Park.
