SNELLVILLE GA.: Marion Allen Haskins Marion Allen Haskins, a native of Granville County, N.C., who for many years was an elementary school teacher in the Oxford area, died June 25 after suffering for more than a decade with Alzheimer's disease. She was 91 years old. Mrs. Haskins was born in Creedmoor and lived in Oxford for most of her adult life before moving in January 2007 to New Londoneealth Care Center in Snellville, Georgia near the home of her youngest son, David, and his family. She was married to Hugh Bryant Haskins of Stem, N.C. for more than 60 years prior to his death in 2006. Mrs. Haskins taught third grade at C. G. Credle School in Oxford for much of her professional career before retiring in 1980. She also was an energetic community voluneer and an active member of Oxford Methodist Church. She is survived by her sons Bryant Haskins and his wife Karen Cole of Chatham, NJ; and David Haskins and his wife Lynne of Snellville, Georgia and grandchildren Andy Haskins and Lauren Haskins, both of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister Ruth Browning Smith and her husband, Johnee; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Oxford Methodist Church on Saturday, July 2, at 11 a.m., immediately followed by a lunch at the church for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the national Alzheimer's Association, P. O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
