CHAPEL HILL – Marion Patrice Walker, age 70, died at Duke Hospital on Feb 26, 2022. She was born on May 11, 1951, to the late Marion Horace Walker and Grace Patricia Walker.
Patrice was a trial lawyer and member of the NC Bar Association for over 40 years, and passionately defended the rights and interests of countless nurses, dentists, and personal injury clients. She authored numerous articles and two books on health law and taught health and business law at UNC’s School of Dentistry and School of Public Health. Patrice loved all kinds of music, but was most excited by Celtic music, which she played beautifully on the harp. There was not a craft she did not try and subsequently master; she loved to weave, quilt, and make quilled paper cards. Patrice was the bright light in every room she walked into; she was renowned for her storytelling and for her ability to find humor in even the darkest moments. She was courageous, groundbreaking in her field, and she taught by example that you can accomplish great things if you believe in yourself.
Patrice is survived by her three children; Jennifer Solberg Murphy of San Jose, CA, Michael Solberg of Atlanta, GA, and Nathan Solberg of Boone, NC; her brother Richard Walker of Cary and family, sister Gwen Williamson and family of Willow Springs; and her three beloved grandchildren, Lucy Solberg, Mae Solberg, and John Solberg; and Angus, the Scottish mannequin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Horace and Grace Patricia. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
