Marshall M. Wilson, 87, of Altamonte Springs, FL and formerly of Oxford, NC died Thursday, March 19, 2020. He was born in Oxford, NC on October 4, 1932 to the late Fonnie and Emmette Wilson.

Dr. Wilson attended Duke University in Durham, NC where he received both his master’s degree and doctorate in education. He later relocated to Florida where he worked as a professor at Rollins College and was Director of the graduate program in Education. In 1972, he began volunteering with a group of men from First Baptist Church Orlando holding bible studies and counseling inmates in jail, and in 1977 he took on a new full-time ministry as Chaplain with the Orange County Jail where he remained until retirement.

Dr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Gladys Wilson; son, John Wilson and his wife Robin; daughter-in-law Cindy Wilson; grandchildren, Joshua Wilson and his wife Rachel, Jamie Stacy and her husband Tyler, and Michael Wilson and his wife Christa; and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, W. Gilbert Wilson, Sr. and his wife Ruth; and many loving extended family members and friends. Dr. Wilson is predeceased by his parents and his son James.

A private family graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Oxford, NC with Rev. Bruce Beck of West Oxford Baptist Church officiating. The public is invited to view the service remotely by following the link provided above. The link will go live at 10:55 am on Saturday, March 28, 2020.
