Martha Ruth Morton

Martha Ruth Davis Morton, age 63, died in her home on Saturday, November 11, 2023. She was born in Waco, Texas on December 29, 1959, to her late parents, Edgar Felton Davis and Martha Sue Hightshoe Davis. She met and married her late husband, George Daniel Morton, III at NC State University and they were married October 17, 1981 at the Edenton Street Methodist Church.

Martha was a woman of faith, strength and character, who loved helping others. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from NC State University in 1981 and began working with Revlon in 1983. She started on the production floor and worked her way up, retiring in 2022 as a Sr. Financial Analyst. She loved gardening, college sports (especially the NC State Wolfpack!), raised 3 beautiful children and loved spending time with her family and her precious grandchildren. She was a longtime active member of the Oak Hill Presbyterian Church.

Martha is survived by her son, Ross Daniel Morton (Julia Day Morton) of Oxford, NC; her daughter, Blair Morton Trexler (Stephen Russell Trexler) of Stem, NC and her son, Clark Davis Morton (Heather Willoughby Morton) of Oxford, NC. She leaves behind her two precious grandchildren, Hesston Daniel Morton and Cora Jane Trexler; her brothers, Edgar Felton Davis, II of Beavercreek, Ohio and Alan Dean Davis of Melbourne, Florida; and an extended family and friends too numerous to name.

A Celebration of Life service officiated by Rev. Sam Miglarese will be held in honor of Martha’s life on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:00 am at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Chapel, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565. A burial will follow the service at Tranquility Cemetery, off Highway 96 N.

Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation in her honor.
