Mary Catherine Hines Roberson

Our sweet Mary Catherine Hines Roberson spread her angel wings at her residence on Saturday, December 7, 2013 after over a year of being diagneed with paneeatic cancer. She was born to Edgar Miller Hines and Sarah Jane Borland on June 11, 1931, in Orange County, NC. She was known for her sweet and selfless soul. She always had a smile oneer face for everyone. She also loved making and giving her famous chocolate pies, the beach at sunset and White Lake wheneer childreneere younger, sewing, shopping and cooking. She loved God, her husband, ALL of her family, working hard, camping/traveling, square dancing, being a "Brownie" and 4-H leader, a Sunday school teacher, football and cheerleading mother, babies and her own grandchildren lit up her life. Mary Catherine graduated from Orange High School where she played of all things the base drum. She met the love of her life working at Roses Dime Store in Chapel Hill, NC. She married Jack Roberson on neember 15, 1953. She worked as a "Soda Jerk" her words in Hillsborough, NC, then with Western Union as a telegraph operator. After this, Mary Catherine worked at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill for many years. She theneept and helped raise many children from her home. After her childreneere a little older, she went back to UNC and retired as the supervisor of Medical Reports there. Then she and her husband started Parker's Creek Mobile Home Park and built the home where they resided to on the property. Mary Catherine was preceded ineeath by her parents, "Eddie" and Sarah Hines; her stepmother Hazel Hines; and her dear brothers, Harold Margaret Hines, Edgar Hines and David Hines. Her daughter, Jackie Roberson; two sons, Greg Roberson and Rusty Roberson; daughter-in-law daughter in our eyes, Marlina Roberson, survive her, along with four grandchildren, Dylan Rigsbee, Randi Roberson, Kaydi Roberson and Noah Roberson; in addition, Greg's dog, Savannah. She is also survived by sisters, Nellie Tunstall, Shirley Eddie Brown, Sarah Norton, Ireneelise Laube; and sister-in-law, Norkie Hines. She also has many nieces and nephews who love and respect her dearly. Mary Catherine will be missed, but God has gotten the sweetest angel ever and she is dancing in the sky with the love of her life and many other precious people she knew and loved. Please celebrate her life with us. The family will receive friends from 3-6PM, Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro, NC. Mary Catherine's funeral will be held 2PM, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dan Robinson officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery then a reception will be held in the fellowship hall to honor the family.
