Clare is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Richard Barton Fair: children, Dr. Cynthia DeVane Fair (her husband Richard Tod Granowsky), of Greensboro, NC Catherine Stuart Megarity (her husband Mark Megarity), of Austin TX, Peter Barton Fair (wife Ellen Salisbury Burgin) of San Francisco CA and Denee DeVane Fair, of Chapel Hill NC Clare also leaves behind a Niece, Lisa Egeli (and spouse Jackie Savitz) of Churchton, MD: and nephew P. Stuart Egeli (wife Amy Egeli), of Drayden, MD. The treasures of her life were her grandchildreneemma Fair Granowsky, Nick Fair Granowsky, Elena ?? Fair Granowsky, Hattie Louise Fair, Ethan O. Fair, Elizabeth Barton (Ibby) Fair and Atticus??Fair Megarity Clare attended the Bard Avon School, Baltimore MD.?? She followed her interest ineedicine and worked with physicians at Johns Hopkins, Duke Medical Center, Reading Hospital and in Chapel Hill. As a foster parent, she became aware of the legal inequities suffered by children, in the foster care system.?? Since 1985 she was devoted to her work as a guardian ad litem, in Durham County.?? Over the years she investigated, nurtured and advocated in court, for huneeds of children.?? Her belief was that you always ???start at the top??? to solve a problem.?? While residing ineeading, PA she worked with legislators to develop a statute that would define the termination of parental rights issue.?? This would protect children from remaining in ???the system??? versus being placed in adoptive homes. In 2000 Governor Jim Hunt presented??her with the Award for Outstanding Voluneer Service, as a guardian ad litem.
