Mary Estelle Nelson

VIRGILINA, VA: Mary Estelle Nelson, 88 of Wilson Rd. died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Halifax Co. and was the daughter of late Lorenzo Thomas Carmichael and Mamie Whitt Carmichael. She was a retired nurse's aide at Halifax Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Amis Chapel Baptist Church and a homemaker. Graveside services will be held Tuesday December 7, 2010 at 3:00 PM ineeadowview Memorial Park by Chaplineean Simmons. Surviving are her husband of 71 years, John R. Nelson: daughter Mary Frances Williams of Oxford; son Edward Nelson of Florida; sisters, Odell Wilson of Rock Hill, SC and Rosa Sharp of Halifax, Va.; brother, Walter Carmichael of Roxboro N.C Four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded ineeath by three brothers, Samuel Carmichael, Harry Carmichael and Lloyd Carmichael. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:30 until 2:30 PM in the Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford. At other times they will be at the home.
