Mary Jean Watters Moore

Durham ??? Mrs. Mary Jean Watters Moore, 90, died peacefully on January 7, 2017 at Croasdaile Pavilion. Mrs. Moore was born neember 15, 1926 in Mobile, AL to the late Nicholas and Katherine Watters.?? Jean graduated from Auburn Uneersity, and in 1947, married Ruben Thomas Moore, who preceded her ineeath in 2007.?? After their children had grown, she returned to school, obtaining her Master???s degree in Education from East Tennessee State Uneersity.?? After relocation to Kingsport, TN, she taught algebra at Dobyns-Bennett High School and first grade at Aneew Jackson Elementary School.??As an avid traveler, she visited four other continents.?? She and Rubeneelocated to Durham, NC in 2003, where they became residents at Croasdaile Village and active members of Durham???s First Presbyterian Church.?? While at Croasdaile, she was involved with the Life Enrichment committee, writing group, tutoring children at Hillandale Elementary School, and dance classes. Mrs. Moore is survived by her children, Richard A. Moore, and his wife, Pamala Moore of Homewood, AL; Elizabeth A. Oudejans, and her husband, Lukas Oudejans, of Carrboro, NC; Cynthia L. Moore, and her husband Jerry Simon, of Cumberland, MD; grandchildren, Richard Moore married to Stephanie Wall, Stewart Moore and Zoe Simon. ?? In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded ineeath by her sister, Pat Morgan. A memorial service will be held on January 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Croasdaile Village Chapel, 2600 Croasdaile Farm Parkway, Durham, NC 27705.
